Creatine Kinase (CK)

Females, Non-Hispanic Black

The median creatine kinase (CK) for Non-Hispanic Black females aged 20 and older in the US is 125 U/L, with 90% of the population falling between 56.8 U/L and 368 U/L.

Reference population
US civilian non-institutionalized Non-Hispanic Black females aged 20 and older from NHANES 2017-March 2020. Race and Hispanic origin is the NHANES RIDRETH3 recode of self-reported race and Hispanic origin. Includes the full population (not restricted to healthy individuals) to reflect the population distribution.
Exclusion criteria
  • Missing creatine kinase value (LBXSCK)
  • Missing or zero combined pre-pandemic MEC sample weight (WTMECPRP)
  • Age under 20
  • Race/Hispanic origin other than Non-Hispanic Black (RIDRETH3 = 4)
  • Participants coded RIDRETH3 = 7 (Other Race, including multiracial) are not published as a race/ethnicity slice; they remain in the age slices
Notes
Percentiles computed using the combined pre-pandemic MEC weight (WTMECPRP). Creatine kinase measured as LBXSCK; the NHANES codebook labels the unit IU/L, which is the same unit as U/L. Pooled across all adults aged 20 and older and not age-standardized, so differences between race/ethnicity slices partly reflect differences in age composition.
